FORM will (soon) house the portfolio of Irish designer Dan Flynn. This site (will) feature projects developed at a number of studios as well as privately commissioned work. Dan is currently creative director at Maud.
My education and practice is broad. Graphic design, identity design, digital design, type design, animation, development, strategy—design should not be constrained by discipline or medium. A Total Design approach fosters apposite outcomes. It ensures that each project regardless of size, is functional, timeless and has the ability to scale.
I work with teams in Melbourne and Sydney on a wide range of brands including Australia Post, Foxtel, Suncorp and Google. Our focus is on strategic design solutions, agnostic of medium.
I work to refine our approach, process and culture to ensure the best possible outcome for each project, while fostering an environment of inspiration and education for staff and clients alike.
In 2009 I graduated from the Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Dublin. The following 12 months I spent in three renowned Irish studios—Atelier, Detail and Zero-G. In 2010 an opportunity arose with internationally acclaimed studio SPIN. Under the mentorship of Tony Brook I spent four years in an elite team working on a diverse range of projects, which saw us nominated for Designs of the Year in 2012.
In 2014, after a year traversing South America, I emigrated to Australia. Here I established a freelance practice and began collaborating with Maud on a number of high profile jobs. In 2015 I joined the studio full time.
Lectures, talks, workshops
I am always happy to receive invitations for lectures and talks, and keen to contribute to design education where and whenever possible. Please get in contact via the normal channels to discuss any dates.
